Description
Egypt grows more than twenty mango varieties, each with its own sweetness and texture: creamy Zebda, rich Alphonso, mild Keitt, sweet-tangy Tommy Atkins, honey-like Sukari, Fagr Kalan, Naomi, Kent, Sindi, Hendi, Hindi Besennara and the traditional Baladi.
Tell us which varieties you prefer — availability follows the season from July to October.
Ismailia, on the banks of the Suez Canal, is the heart of Egyptian mango growing. Its sandy soils and summer heat produce fruit with intense aroma, and each family seems to have a favourite variety.
